How to Make the Shooting Star Paper Airplane

An excellent and stable airplane, the Shooting Star is a great paper airplane for almost any job.

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Tape
Optional:
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors

Take your paper and fold it along its length. Then pull the corners in and fold them into the center.

Pull the top down along the bottom of the previous corner folds. Then pull the corners in to the center, but not completely flush. Then pull the small remaining triangle up over these flaps.

Fold your plane up along its center. Then fold the wing down so the root goes from the inner edge of the sweep fold to the rear of the center fold.

To make your Shooting Star's "shark fin", fold the section of paper in front of the triangle up. The edges of the crease should be the wing root at the front and the base of the security fold at the back. Once it is folded, open the fuselage--pull it through and invert the fold.

To make your airplane's winglets, fold the paper about 3/4 of an inch in from the wingtips up, parallel to the fuselage. Once both have received creases, fold them so the winglet dangles below the wing.

To complete your Shooting Star, apply a small piece of tape to the front of the fuselage below the wing.

Like many planes, the Shooting Star has a large wing, but is shaped like a dart. Due to its hybrid shape, the Shooting Star requires a middle-of-the-road, moderate throw speed.
