How to Make the Comet Paper Airplane

Fast, long range and simple, the Comet is an agile little airplane that can not only serve as a "fighter-interceptor", but also a regular stunt plane too!

1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Tape
Pencil
Ruler

Take your paper and fold it along its length. Then pull the corners in and fold them into the center.

Pull the top down along the bottom of the previous corner folds. After this is done, pull the corners in, however not as much as before making the nose blunt. Repeat on the other side. Then pull the triangle up towards the nose over the two folds.

Fold the wings of your Comet down 3/4 of an inch above the bottom of the fuselage. Be sure to align the trailing edges of the wing to that of the fuselage to control the angle of incidence. Then, while the wings are still folded, fold the winglets up 3/4 of an inch in from the wingtips.

Taping the Comet is very simple. Tape it at its front and back, then over the top of the wing root at the trailing edge.

Flying the Comet is quite simple. For fast, long range flights, aim the nose up ~25 degrees from eye level, and then give it a moderate to high speed throw. For stunt/high altitude flights, aim the nose up ~35-45 degrees from eye level, then give a swift throw. In the case of the latter, the Comet will slow after its almost vertical ascent, then perform a loop and/or a high speed dive. On windy days, the Comet tends to hang in the air after its ascent, and glide along for a long time.
