Step 1
1. Measure and cut 2 pieces of 12" x 15" from your fabric
Step 2
Using your ruler, mark your fabric every 2 inches, so that you can create a straight fold into your fabric
Step 3
Iron these folds flat
Step 4
Repeat these steps for the length of each piece of fabric
Step 5
Once you've iron these folds, you'll want to sew them down. Measure 3/4" from the edge and mark with pencil or pin.
Step 6
Line up the needle with your pin, and sew a straight line
Step 7
Repeat these steps for each fold, until it looks like an accordion
Step 8
Iron these folds flat. The flaps on each side should face away from eachother.
Step 9
Place the Front Cut Out on top of the piece with the pleats facing left. With the Center of the front piece lining up with the edge of your fabric and pin in place, and cut out.
Step 10
For the second piece, just flip the pattern over, pin in place, and cut out.
Step 11
Pin the two pieces together, back facing out and sew down the center front
Step 12
Iron open the seam allowance.
Step 13
Measure, Pin and Cut out the pattern for your Placket.
Step 14
Fold the seam allowance of 5/8" and iron -- length-wise only.
Step 15
The Placket goes on the front of the bib, to cover the front seam, so that it looks like a real button line.
Step 16
Pin in place, and stitch either side of the Placket down.
Step 17
Cut out pattern number 3 (this is your collar) from your fabric and your interfacing, front and back.
Step 18
Iron on the interfacing to the outside pieces, glue face down against the fabric.
Step 19
Place the inside collar piece on top of the outside collar piece, right sides together.
Step 20
Sew once around the top and sides of the collar leaving a 5/8" seam allowance.
Step 21
Trim the seam allowance, so the one side is slightly shorter than the other (this makes turning it out is easier)... trim the corners.
Step 22
Press these pieces, and the inside seam open to make the edge sharp.
Step 23
Cut a Buyer's strip into the fabric. Use your ruler to measure a 45 degree angle 1.5 inches from the edge of the fabric.
Step 24
This strip will wrap once around the bib
Step 25
Pin the right sides of each piece together and sew 1/4" in from the edge of the bib.
Step 26
Flip the excess fabric over the edge of the bib, and fold it to the back, pressing and open the seam as taut as possible.
Step 27
Top stitch the edge on the front to finish the edge all the way around.
Step 28
Place the outside of the collar (the side with the interface ironed on) on top of the bib, pinning it on starting with the center front, sew it in place with a seam allowance of 5/8".
Step 29
Trim the seam allowance, fold over the collar and finish the inside.
Step 30
Trim the seam allowance, flip the collar and press the seam.
Step 31
Flip to the other side and turn the inside of the collar up (press flat) and then fold into the piece itself all the way to the end, and sew with a top stitch
Step 32
Repeat on the right side
Step 33
Attach the velcro on each end of the collar so that it closes correctly around your neck.
Step 34
Attach the buttons
