How to Make a Facebook Cover Photo
Let's face it: learning Photoshop is hard. Watching tutorial after tutorial on YouTube can discourage even the most eager artist in training and has long been the bane of many small businesses and bloggers alike. But thankfully graphic design can be about so much more than just Photoshop, which is exactly why the BeFunky Designer Toolset is just so amazing.
Create just about anything from wedding invites to Twitter cover photos with an intuitive, easy to use interface that brings the creative freedom back to the people. To celebrate never having to look up social media image dimensions again (yay!!), today I'm going to show you how to whip up your very own Facebook cover photo using the new Designer—enjoy!
Select a Template
The Designer Toolset is filled with templates for just about every occasion, so just scroll through and take a look at all the goodies until you find one you like. There's sections for Event Graphics, Blogger Resources and even an option to create your own template, but for now we're going to go with 'Social Media Headers'. Click on Facebook to see all of the available templates. I chose a simple design with only a few graphic elements so I could add on as much as I wanted, but the choice is ultimately up to you.
Prepare Your Image
You're going to want to start off by clearing away all of the graphic elements in the default template. Simply hover over each one to select and hit delete to get rid of them.
Once your template is nice and freed up, next you're going to add in a gorgeous background. The Designer allows you to choose images from your own computer, Facebook images or even one of 440,000 free stock photos from Pixabay.com. Head to the Image Manager on the left, select your image and double click or drag and drop to make it your background.
Add Some Text
With hundreds upon hundreds of different fonts, the possibilities are nearly endless. Put up a spiffy quote from your favorite movie, a joke, an inside joke—whatever keeps you smiling. To add text, just click the 'T' on the toolbar on the left hand side. From here you can go on to play with different fonts, font colors and sizes. Double click to enter your text and adjust with the mouse to move your text around.
Finish With Graphics
Finally, to give your cover photo some extra oomph you can choose to add graphics from the Design Elements section on the left hand side. For this particular project, I'm going to add in some arrows. Select your image, then I'm going to add in a custom color using the Color Dropper by clicking on the dropper icon. From there you can hover over any part of the image to select a custom color and adjust the intensity of your graphic.
You can also use the 'Duplicate' and 'Flip horizontally' buttons at the bottom of the 'Graphics Property' box to easily make another arrow for the opposite side of your text.
Save & Share!
Save to your BeFunky account or your computer, Facebook, Dropbox or Google Drive and show off the goods to just about everyone. Look at you, designing all fancy.
