How to Create a Burned Blue-Tac Art Piece.

I was playing around with match rockets ('ible will be linked here:) and I didn't have a stand for them so I wondered if I could use Blue-Tac.

Well, I am a (not) extremely safe person and the first thing that came to mind was "is this stuff flammable?" (really it was: "Match rockets - whoohoo! lets go - I don't care what I use!") but either way some point in the process I wondered if this stuff could burn.

So I found myself a metal square and started trialing :)

So when I made the decision to burn some Blue-Tac I gathered non-burnable materials to hold it.

Firstly just to test the theory I burned it on some concrete, it was too cold but there was a small flame.

So I found an old metal square and positioned it on the edge of a bench nearby.

After rolling a small lump of Blue-Tac into a sausage I stuck it to the edge of the square.

It was then I realized this could be a viable 'ible so I got the camera - the battery was flat but I burned the first lot anyways.

The first burn was the loopdy loop thing in the intro photo, I kept the result because it was so cool.

I will show you the second burn I did and hopefully you can do this too!

Now for the warning.

BURNED BLUE-TAC IS A HEAT RETAINER.

THIS MEANS IT STAYS EXTREMELY HOT FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

HANDLE WITH EXTRA CARE AND CAUTIOUSNESS AND BE VERY WARY.

So I got the safety-kid-proof-heat-resistant-cigeratte-lighter and then I lit the little piece of Blue-Tac.

It was really cool, it burned quickly and produced a reasonable amount of smoke (enough to set off a smoke alarm!).

Once the Blue-Tac had finished burning it lost all it's stickiness and it fell onto the floor thus breaking it.

My previous creation (loopdy loop) I layed flat on the square and lifted it off while it was still hot - big mistake, it gave me some very sore blisters.

So, by handling the loopdy loop I ended up breaking it (pictured) so I decided to finish it off and show you crushed-burned-Blue-Tack it goes into a powder and the powder didn't burn.

There you have it - If you have ever wondered if Blue-Tack burns - it does!
