We were inspired by the popular game Subway Surfers to create

the One of its Kind Hoverboard. The Hoverboard is a small version of a conventional hovercraft but is ridden standing up. It uses the same air cushion principles to glide just above the ground. While our hoverboard can’t fly as high as the animated subway surfer, it does glide over smooth, rough surfaces … now you can easily glide over obstacles and bumpy roads as well. While it can ride over wet surfaces, it cannot ride over bodies of water because of its limited air-generating capacity.

What you need:

2 planks of thick ply wood

4 wooden boxes {depending on the size of the EDFs}

6 EDF Motors

3 LIPO Lithium 4s Batteries

Wifi Controller

3 ESC

1 Servo Tester

1 Shower Curtain {for the skirt}

1 Packet Banana Pins

1 Servo

Tools:

Glue gun

Stapler Gun

Soldering Iron

Soldering Wire

Designing

Design the board and a metal stand for the propeller fans.

Draw a circuit diagram for the connections.

Design and print a flex of your choice as per the size of the board. {ie. for the top and the sides of the board}

Board

20141215_213127.jpg

Cut the plywood as shown in the picture.

Attach the wooden boxes on the 4 holes.

Fit the second board on top of the boxes.

Cabling

20141213_223502.jpg

Make 6 Y cables for the power supply .{3 for negative and 3 for

positive}

Attach the banana pins to the Y cables.

Make a 1x4 split cable for the lift ESC control.{Please note: While making the 1x4 cable, the ground and data have to be connected to all the ESCs while the power for the test servo can be connected to any one of the ESCs}

Make a 1x2 cable for propel fans. {Please note: While making the 1x2 cable, the ground and data have to be connected to all the ESCs while the power for the test servo can be connected to any one of the ESCs}

Installation

Lift fans:

Attach the printed flex on the board.

Fit the fans to the board.

Attach the fans to the ESCs.

Attach the Y cable to the ESCs .

Connect the Y cable to the switch.

Connect the switch to the batteries.

Connect the ESCs to the servo tester via the 1x4 split cable.

Propeller fans:

Attach the metal stand to the servo.

Attach the servo to the board.

Attach the fans to the metal stand.

Attach the fans to the ESCs.

Attach the Y cable to the ESCs.

Connect the Y cable to the switch.

Connect the switch to the batteries.

Secure all the parts using duct tape.

Connect the ESCs to the Wifi controller via the 1x2 Y cable.

Skirt

20141215_213021.jpg

Take the measurements of the skirt such that the hoverboard

elevates 2 inch above the ground.

Attach the skirt to the board as shown in the picture.

Make 6 holes around the skirt and staple it in the middle .
