Tripod base: You can use any rigid filament to hold the rocket cup, can even be printed in resin or wood filament of your style preference.
Making the Cup Model (if You Wish to Design Your Own, Otherwise Skip to Step 4)
In the 3D modelling software of your preference, first make some construction lines and the circles of your model, then make the profile curve of the overlapping lip in the front view using the reference circles.
Using the "revolve tool" and indicating the revolve axis, create a 360º surface from that profile curve, completing the final cup shape.
In the end when you are happy with the result, save the model as .STL format
Making the Base Model
- You can refer to the construction lines of the rocket cup you made before to create the tripod base. In the top view port, make two circles for the top of the tripod according to the diameter of the rocket cup (the bottom of the overlapping lip of the cup) and then extrude them 10 mm.
- Then make the shape of a leg and make a circular array to copy it around the centre of the circle and attach them to the bottom of the ring to create one whole element.
- When you are happy with the result, save the tripod base as .STL format
3D Printing Cup
3D printer used: Prusa Mendel Gen3.5
Once you have designed your own cup or downloading the model file (Hot Rocket cup.stl) print your cup!
Using a slicing software ( I used CURA version 15.04.5), load the file, rotate 90º to its side, add raft and touching buildplate, and print it at the smallest layer height you can for a better finish and reduce a porous finish.
For this part of the model you MUST use a FDA approved filament to be food safe.

3D Printing Tripod Base
Once you have designed your own Tripod base or downloading the model file (Hot Rocket base.stl) print your base!
Load the model file in your slicer software, rotate it 180º, and add a raft.
Print at your favourite settings and at the layer height of your choice, and filament type that you think goes with your style and give it the special finish you desire.
