Hot Chocolate + Homemade Whipped Cream to Get You Though the Winter
This is a simple recipe for the best hot chocolate and whipped cream! I hope you enjoy!
Supplies
Ingredients
- Mini marshmallows (as many as desired)
- 1 hot chocolate packet for 1 cup of hot chocolate
- 1/4 whipping cream
- 1 candy cane
Supplies
- a kettle (I used an electric kettle)
- a hand mixer (I used stick blender with a whisk attachment)
- 1 mug
- 1 medium bowl
- 1 spoon
- 1/4 measure (a liquid measurer works too)
Making the Whipped Cream
Measure 1/4 cup of whipping cream into a medium bowl. With your hand mixer, start whisking the cream. In the beginning it will look like a liquid, but soon you’ll see change.
Forming Stiff Peaks
The whipped cream will change fast, so be careful for this step. Soon the whipped cream will start to form peaks. Stop your hand mixer every so often, to check for stiff peaks. Stiff peaks are when you can lift your mixer, and a peak will stay it place, instead of sinking back into the bowl. Make sure to stop your mixer right when you have stiff peaks so you don’t go too far. Now your whipped cream is done. Set that aside for now.
Making Hot Chocolate
Pour you hot chocolate packet into your mug. Heat up water to boiling temperature. (212 degrees Fahrenheit) Once your water is boiling, pour in as much water as your packet says, and depending on how chocolatey you want it, pour in more or less water. After your pour in the water, stir your hot chocolate until there are no more bits of powder in your cup.
Decorating Your Cup
Put in your whipped cream, and marshmallows. Put in as many as you want, but don’t stir it yet.
Finishing Touches
Put in your candy cane, and you are done. Congratulations on making some great hot chocolate! Hopefully this will warm up your day!
