Hostess Twinkie Scarf
I mourn the passing of my poor childhood favorite. What better way to do it but with a Twinkie scarf. ^____^
Supplies
SUPPLIES

1/4 yard fleece fabric (45 in. width bolt)
- light blue
- yellow
- 1/4 yard dark blue and yellow fabric (cotton preferably)

2 ft X 2 ft piece of cotton fabric
- white
- medium blue

1 square felt piece of colors
- red
- yellow ochre
- white
- light blue
- sewing machine

thread
- dark brown
- white
- medium blue
- fabric glue
- rotary cutter with a straight edge or just scissors
- red and royal blue acrylic paint
Cutting Pieces

MAIN PIECES
- 1 cut - dark blue cotton - 6.5 in. W and 38 in. L (45 in wide bolt)
- 1 cut - blue fleece - 6.5 in. W and 45 in. L (45 in wide bolt)

1 cut - yellow cotton and yellow fleece - 5 in. W and 45 in. L (45 in wide bolt)
- cut again in half making 2 strips total
- 1 cut - white cotton 5.5 in. H and 2 ft. W

1 cut - medium blue cotton 1.5 in. W and 45 in. L (45 in wide bolt)
- cut again in half making 2 strips total
- 2 cuts longways - yellow ochre felt 2 in. strips
- 4 cuts short width - light blue felt 0.75 in. strips with a slight curve
Hostess Panel - Piecing Together
- Take the 2 medium blue cotton strips and sew them on both sides of the main white cotton fabric panel as seen in image #1
- (optional) Flip over and sew again to secure the pieces in image #2
- Mark off where you are going to cut the diagonal pieces. I placed the piece over the cut piece of the dark blue fabric. I titled the main "hostess" piece until it was at an angle I preferred and marked off all four corners where the it met up with the edge of the dark blue piece in image #3. The width came out to 7 in.
- Cut diagonal marks of the 2 "hostess" pieces (Just so you know I love the rotary blade cutter. Makes things soooooo easy when needing long straight lines.) image #4
- Glue a line down the middle of the light blue felt pieces and attach to main "hostess" pieces. image #5-6
- Zig Zag sew, finishing off edges of felt. images #7-9
Hostess Panel - Painting and Zig Zag Finish

Main red swoop (main "hostess" panel)
- gently mark off curve
- paint with red acrylic paint

"Hos" text (2 separate pieces of white cotton fabric)
- mark off the H - o - s characters on 2 white fabric
- paint in characters with royal blue acrylic paint
- cut off excess fabric around characters leave at least 2mm edges from the painted text
- Cut 2 red felt hearts
- place both hearts and "Hos" pieces in position on the main "Hostess " panels (image #5)
- zig zag finish off "Hos" and felt hearts with white thread (image #6-7)
Connecting Hostess Panels and Main Scarf

Cut 2 (3 in.) W strips from the 38 in. dark blue cotton strip at same diagonal angle as main "hostess" panel. (image #1)
- 2 - (3 in.) strips
- 1 - (35 in.) strips
- Connect main (35 in.) strip to both "hostess" panels (image #2)
- Then connect both 3 in. strips at the end on the other side of the "hostess" panel (image #3)
- Flip over and finish off (image #4-5)
Twinkie - Piece Together and Finish
- Mark off main twinkie area shown in image #1
- Place yellow ochre strips (shadow) and white felt circles (cream filling) on long yellow cotton panels
- Trim yellow ochre strips as needed to fit the marked off twinkie area on the yellow cotton strip
- Glue felt strips and circles to main yellow cotton strips. let it set (image #2-3)
- Place yellow fleece piece on top of main twinkie (yellow cotton) piece (image #4)
- Sew together leaving end open
- Reverse out (image #5)
- Sew again the edges seen in image #6
- Zig zag finish off the shadow, main twinkie part and "cream filling" white circle with dark brown thread (image #7)
Piecing Together and Finishing Scarf
- Take light blue fleece strip and place on top of main scarf
- Sew only the main edges leaving the ends open
- Reverse out main scarf (image #2)
- Place twinkie pieces in both ends and tuck in edge of main scarf (image #3) and pin (image #4)
- Sew complete edge all around the scarf
- Now, you too have a Twinkie scarf
