Hoops Arcade! - Mini Basketball Arcade Kit for Micro:Bit

Hoops Arcade! is a STEM based mini basketball arcade game for coders! What kind of coding fun can you have with a basketball goal?......Lots!.......Wirelessly detect when a mini basketball passes through the hoop using a proximity sensor to trigger your micro:bit to track the score and provide game sounds.

What kind of tools and materials did I use to create Hoops Arcade!

Tools required are:

• Phillips screw driver
• Hex nut screw driver
• Glue Gun

Materials Required are:

• Micro:bit (Version 2) Kit (with battery pack) (quantity 1)
• Raspberry Pi Pico (quantity 1)
• Adafruit circuit board standoffs (quantity 4)
• APDS 9960 Proximity, Light, RGB, Gesture Sensor (quantity 1)
• iTapArcade Mini Basketball Kit (quantity 1)
• iTapArcade B-Ball:Bit Circuit Board (quantity 1)
• Hex nut thumb screws (quantity 4)

Install standoffs onto B-Ball:Bit Circuit Board

Solder Raspberry Pi Pico (preprogrammed to provide trigger to Micro:bit) to B-Ball:Bit Circuit Board

Solder APDS 9960 Sensor to B-Ball:Bit Circuit Board

Attach B-Ball:Bit Circuit Board to iTapArcade Mini Basketball Backboard

Program Micro:Bit with MakeCode to track score, receive trigger from basketball detection, and generate game sounds.
