Honey Clicker - Wireless Mouse in Honey

I'd like to introduce you to the future of clicking: The Honey Clicker.

It is a functioning wireless mouse suspended in honey that is only capable of left clicking.

Jar of Honey, Wireless Mouse, Small Arcade Button, AA Battery, some wires + solders

First step in this project was googling if it could work (milk will not work).

Then, I bought a cheap wireless mouse.

Open up the mouse with a screwdriver or something and rip out all the relevant pieces.

Solder the battery leads to loose wires and connect an arcade button to the left click on the circuit board.

To make sure the battery will actually work in the honey, give it a dip. With the dongle plugged into your computer you should be able to click using the arcade button. The red LED on the circuit board should also light up.

Make sure the mouse is switched on. This is something you'll want to do before the circuit board is covered in honey.

Use a tight rubber band to hold the wires on the battery.

Uh oh, looks like the board is a bit too wide for this honey jar.

Determine which part of the circuit board you can get rid of to make it fit. Any connections on this part of the board will need to be traced to another part of the board. Use your multimeter to confirm and resolder those wires.

Be careful!

You may need to dump out some honey first, but you'd be surprised by how little honey the board displaces.

You'll want it to be snug so honey doesn't spill out if it gets turned over.

I used plug connectors to connect the button to the board so that I could keep the button relatively honey free while I worked on the rest of it.

That's it! You have a Honey Clicker.

The wireless mouse should go to sleep when not in use so the battery should last you a while. In the meantime, you can press the button on the honey jar to left-click as needed.
