Honda Civic Improvement Parts!!! (EF9 Tow Hook, Trunk Spare Tire Cover, Shift Knob)

I made a tow hook, trunk spare tire cover, and a shift knob for my ef hatchback. These all are to improve my car and the drive.

Supplies

You will need:


Tow Hook:

Fusion 360 (Or any CAD)

CAM Program to use on CNC Laser Cutter and CNC plasma Cutter

0.25'' Medium Density Fiber Board

CNC Laser Cutter

0.25'' Sheet Metal

CNC plasma


Spare Tire Cover:

Cardboard

Fusion 360 (Or any CAD)

CNC Router



Shift Knob:

1.25'' Aluminum Round Stock

Lathe

Tap and Die set

Tow Hook

  1. Create CAD Design
  2. Laser Cut Prototype
  3. Install/test Prototype
  4. CAM Final Design
  5. Cut Final Design

Trunk Cover

  1. Use cardboard to make a cut out of the trunk's layout
  2. Use this cut out to help aid the design on CAD
  3. Use a CNC router to make a cardboard prototype to test fit in car
  4. Adjust the design to fit the trunk better
  5. Then cut the final design on desired wood or metal

Shift Knob

  1. Cut your round stock to the length that you want to make your shift knob
  2. Face the round stock on both side on the lathe
  3. Use the lathe to drill a 2 inch deep hole on one of the ends of the round stock (the size of the hole should be the correct size for your threads)
  4. Use a tap and die set to put threads in your shift knob
  5. Turn the rest of the shift knob to get a machined finish on the shift knob
  6. Chamfer the ends of the shift knob for a better and less sharp feel (optional)
