Homemade Whipped Cream FAST: Easiest Hack

I try to use homemade whipped cream instead of the Cool Whip stuff as much as possible, and some recipes specifically call for that instead of the store bought stuff. It is a great multi-purpose desert dresser-upper; good for topping pies, cakes, puddings, and more.

However, whipped cream always seemed like such a chore. It always took FOREVER. There were the usual tips on how to make it go faster: chill the bowl, chill the beaters, have the bowl in another bowl of ice water to keep it cold while whipping......but it still took FOREVER.

Until one day I made a discovery all because the beaters were all dirty and I didn't want to wash them :) I used the whisk attachment instead of the regular beater attachments.

I was stunned at how fast it whipped up. It was amazing! I will lead you through how you can now whip up whip cream whenever you want with hardly any effort.

Supplies

1. Whipping cream (I use heavy whipping cream and I am using 1 Cup, which makes an amount equal to 1 Cool Whip tub )

2. A bowl for the cream (make sure it is large enough that you won't splatter cream everywhere - I'm using another measuring cup)

3. A handheld mixer

4. The whisk attachment for the handheld mixer (I'll explain in the next step)

5. Sugar for flavoring (optional and not shown)

What Is the Whisk Attachment?

So, every handheld mixer we have ever bought has come with one single whisk attachment. It looks just like a handheld whisk, but it fits onto the mixer.

If you don't have one, or you threw it out because you had no idea what you would use it for when you bought the mixer, you can find these in thrift stores sometimes when other people get rid of them because they don't know what to use them for. We just purchased two more of them this morning from a thrift store.

This is the magic tool in the whole process. You will not regret it if you buy one.

Measure Out Whipping Cream

Measure out your whipping cream. As I said in the supplies section, I am using 1 cup of whipping cream.

Obviously, the more cream you have the longer it is gonna take, but it won't be anything like trying to whip cream with the regular beaters.

Attach the Whisk and Whip!

Attach the Whisk attachment just like you would any attachment for the mixer, making sure it is secure. Pour your whip cream into your bowl (or my mixer cup).
Now start whipping!
It will not take long at all for the cream to start becoming more solid.
See how fast? I timed how long it took me to whip the 1 cup of whipping cream into a stiff mixture and it took 2 minutes and 15 seconds (I timed it with a stopwatch).

*TIP: It will go faster if you have two of the whisk attachments, but one is all that comes with the mixers, so I only used one here.

If you are sweetening the whipped cream, just add a bit of sugar at a time while running the mixer. Confectioner's or powdered sugar is perfect for this.
Personally, I like to mix some in and then taste it to see if it is as sweet as I want. Much yummier than store bought!

Ways to Use Homemade Whipped Cream

There are so many things you can do with homemade whipping cream, but here are just a few.
1. Spoon over hot apple pie (or whatever pie - sounds really good on a chocolate ice box pie)

2. Substitute for store bought stuff like Cool Whip (this might not work for everything, but it will for lots of things).

3.Top hot chocolate or homemade eggnog

4. Eat with fruit (especially strawberries)

5. Fold into puddings and batters to produce fluffier results

6. Use as icing for cakes

Hopefully this helped you to know that you can make whipped cream whenever you feel like without all the hassle. This was just an amazing hack for my family because we enjoy lots of desserts that ask for whip cream/cool whip, but whipping the cream was always so time consuming. Not anymore!
