Homemade Shelf

For my Instructable, I had to think about a problem that I could fix while only reusing old objects. I noticed that my video game cases were laying around in my room and that is when I thought about creating a shelf. This is a perfect solution to my problem as it makes my room cleaner and gives me a place to put my video games in.

In order to start building your own shelf, find an old box/crate that is big enough to hold whatever you need to store.

Now, it is time to measure the "shelf" and then plug those measurements into a computer design software. In this case, I used Onshape. After the crate, I then measured my game cases to determine how many sections the shelf would have.

Creating the Racks

Next, cut out the racks for the shelf using a secondary crate. Using the pocket knife, I cut out the longer sides of the crate. After checking my measurements, I trimmed down the sides so that it would fit inside the first crate.

Zip Tying

After cutting out the racks, I grabbed some zip ties and started applying them on the shelf to keep the racks in place.
