How to Make a Paper Making Frame

In this step I will explain how to craft a paper making frame. You will need either a picture frame or four 1” by 1” by 15” (or however big you want it to be) posts and a piece of window screen. If you are using a picture frame simply remove the glass and backing and then staple the piece of window screen to the edges of the frame. If you are using wooden posts, nail or screw them together to make a frame and then staple the window screen to its edges.

Tip: the bigger you make the frame, the more the screen will sag in the middle.

Cut your printer paper into squares about 1” by 1”. Put the paper and some warm water into the blender and blend. If it is too dry, add water. If it is too runny, add more paper. It should be a smooth paste. If you want it to look more old-fashioned and rough, blend it less. Mix in the flower petals (optional).

Spread the paper out on the frame. Roll it out until it is thin and flat. It should take about 2-3 days to dry. If you want to speed up the process, you can set the paper in the sun, just make sure it isn’t going to rain!
