Homemade Hot Pack

  • Please read all instructions before beginning.
  • Gloves are recommended, but not required. They are used to keep hands clean when using scented oils.

Gather Supplies

Your needed supplies will include a bag of rice, a measuring cup, a sock, ziplock bags, scented oils, and gloves.

Put on Gloves

Put on gloves to prevent scented oils from getting in your hands. Note that this step is optional.

Scoop Out Rice

Scoop rice out of bag using measuring cup. Scoop about 1 cup.

Pour Rice in Sock

Pour the rice into the hole of the sock. As seen in the picture, pull the hole of the sock over and then pour.

Repeat the Process

Repeat steps 3 and 4 about 3-4 more times to fill the sock with rice.

Compact Rice in Sock

Squeeze the rice down the sock, starting from the end with the hole. This will compact the rice into the sock to make the hot pack larger.

Select Scent

Select an oil scent to use in the hot pack.

Open Sock Hole

Widen the hole in the sock to make adding scent easier.

Add Scent to Hot Pack

While you have the hole widened, pour several drop into the hole of the sock. 5-8 drops is recommended, however you can add more to increas the strength of the scent.

Tie the Knot

Tie the end of the sock with the hole into a knot.

Bag It Up

Keep hot pack stored in a ziplock bag to help make the scent last longer.
