Homemade Gerbil and Hamster Treats

I came up with these treats after watching a video for homemade rabbit treats. I thought these would be a good alternative to store bought treats as they are usually unhealthy. Lets get started!

You will need: One carrot, half a banana, cheerios or oats, and hamster or gerbil pellets { I used Oxbow }. Also two small bowls, a large bowl, a spoon and fork, an oven, something to crush the pellets and cheerios with, tinfoil, and a baking sheet.

Preparing

First peel your carrot . Then chop it up and put it in the blender or some how puree it. Next get your banana and mash it up { I used a fork }. Finally for the wet ingredients mix the carrot and banana together. get your cheerios or oats and turn them into powder { via: blender, food processor, or bag and hammer\ rock} do the same to the pellets. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. If it is too dry add some water.

Baking

Line a cookie sheet with tin foil. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Then roll the dough into balls or cut them out with a cookie cutter an lay onto the foil. Place in the oven for 30 minutes, finally take out and let cool. Serve.

Notes

My gerbils loved these treats. If you have other small pets this can be modified to use their type of pellet. Rabbits and guinea pigs cannot have cheerios so only use oats
