Homemade Firelighter
Here, you can see how to make a firelighter in your home, using some paper and some used cooking oil.
Both ingredients are available to anyone and cost nothing get them. You need no chemicals. This stuff is eco friendly. Try to make it.
Paper in Pieces
First, you will need some paper in pieces. I use carton paper because it's realy easy for me to get it and costs me nothing. You can also use ordinary paper.
Multichopper
You will also need a multichopper.
Paper Pieces Into the Multichopper
Put the parer pieces into the multichopper.
Water Into the Multichopper
Add some water into the multichopper.
Paper Processing
Process the paper, until it becomes pulp (pic.2).
Giving Shape to the Paper Pulp
Take some pulp, squeeze it to remove the excess water (pic. 1) and put it into a mold (pic. 2). I use a yoghurt pot, that I have drilled many holes around it, so the remaining water from the pulp can be flow off.
Pressing the Pulp
Press the pulp with something round, with the eqivalent diameter, to make it more dense (pic. 1). I use a piston that I have made (pic. 2). In the next picture, (pic. 3) you can see the compressed pulp. I use a round piece of wood (pic.4) to make the top of the pulp more even (pic. 5). Notice that the firelighter has to be not very thick. About 10mm or less (pic.6).
Removing the Firelighter From the Mold
Remove the firelighter from the mold and let it dry (p. 2). Better make it in pairs. You will see in another step why.
Cutting a V Notch
Cut a V notch using diagonal cutters. The notch is where you light it.
Soaking Container
Take a food container and put some used cooking oil. Place on top of the container a piece of wire mesh.
Soaking the Firelighter
Put the firelighters in the container (pic. 1) and let them soak for a few minutes (pic. 2).
Draining the Excess Oil
Put the firelighters against each other, to drain the excess oil. (You see now why you have to make it in pairs!)
Final Product
Here is the final product. Once it's led, it can last about 10 to 15 minutes.
I hope you like it!
