Homemade Clay With Paint

This clay is fairly cheap and really fun! It takes just three ingredients which any crafter will already have. It has bright colors, takes well to stamping and is sturdy when dried.

Gather Your Ingredients

All you need is; cornstarch, white glue and acrylic paints. Plus you'll want some bowls and paper towels handy, and gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty.

Mix It All Together

I start by mixing my paint into the cornstarch. There isn't really any formula but start with a small amount of paint. The cornstarch and paint mixture will look paler than the finished clay as you can see in the pictures. Then add the glue. If you accidentally make it too thin and gooey just add more cornstarch. the clay will start to dry out if left in the air but a wet paper towel on top of it will slow the drying process. And a small amount of water mixed into drying clay will restore it.

Make Awesome Stuff

It is sturdy when dry so it will work great for pendants, scrap-booking, dollhouse miniatures or anything. Although thick sculptures should be periodically misted with water to prevent the outside from drying faster than the inside, which will result in cracking. Now that you have made your clay... get sculpting!
