Homemade Bow and Arrow

This instructable will show you how to make a homemade bow and arrow. It is pretty simple, and doesn't require that much work. However, to make a really good one needs a lot of practice. Let's get started...
Find a Stick for the Bow

Find a straight stick that you think works good for a bow. It should be reasonably thick (but not too thick that you can't bend it!) and about 3-4 feet tall. Cut this stick down and trim it to the correct length.
Take the Twigs Off the Branch

Next take your branch and trim off all the twigs. This step is pretty simple, but important.
Put on the String

Put notches onto the ends of the stick so that the string can slide onto it. Next, put the string on (it helps if you use your knee to bend the stick back), making sure it is tight.
Make a Handle and Resting Spot for Arrow

For the resting spot, put a piece of wood, metal, etc. in the center of the stick and then tape it and carve it out. Then tape the rest of the handle for a comfortable grip.
Find a Small Stick for the Arrow

Next find a small stick that looks good for an arrow. Take that off the branch.
Cut Off Unwanted Twigs and Sharpen

Then sharpen the tip of the stick, and remove any twigs to make a nice, straight stick. Now you are ready to make the feathers.
Make a Nock and Put on Feathers

Now make a nock in the end of the arrow. Then collect some feathers to put to the end of the arrow.
To put on the feathers you can either tie it on with string, tape, etc., or tie it on with reeds (like I did). I sliced the single reed the long way to make strips of that reed. Then I tied the feathers onto the arrow. And there you have it... your new homemade bow and arrow!
