"Bacon Bits" that are sold on the supermarket shelf are rubbery and barely taste like bacon.
Not only that, they are chocked full of preservatives in order to sit on a shelf for months.

Here I will show you my process of how we make bacon bits at our house.
You will now be asking your wife to have "salad" every night.

This is how we cook bacon at home.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Fit a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet so it covers the entire pan
- Lay out bacon
- Cook for 10-12 minutes.

CAN. NOT. RESIST.
.. Okay, yes, eat one.
Just one!

- Lay your bacon on the paper towel. (Let sit for 2 minutes.)
Chop It Up

Now that your bacon has had time to cool down and get rid of some of that grease:
-
- Chop it up
- Keep chopping. (you want a fine crumb)

Yes, that is what a pile of bacon bits should look like.
None of that rubbery stuff.
Salad please!?

I like to store my bacon bits in a old spice jar but a ziplock works fine.
Your bacon bits will be good in the fridge for 4-6 weeks!
