Homemade Aftershave

I devised this recipe yesterday after looking around online at other recipes. I'd never wanted to go buy any just to find out I didn't like it, so I decided it would be interesting and might turn out good. I discovered it was good when dad stole my first bottle. 


I think it smells tropically, and my dad said it smelled like a citrus musk. So I call it Island Musk. Try making it and let me know what you think.

Supplies

• Small funnel
• Cool looking jar w/ cork

Ingredients

• Rum (I use my dads Bacardi Limon for the citrusy scent)
• Witch Hazel
• Tea Tree essential oil
• Blackpepper essential oil
• ginger essential oil
• tangerine essential oil
• bay leaf
• 3 cloves
• piece of tangerine peel
• two leaves off of some plant (I think it's basil)    :edit: AHA! Thanks to the power of google, I've discovered that it was catnip. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

Note: You can change any of the scents and make your own. With the way I make it, it smells different each time, because I don't measure, just put in this or that.

The Rum and Witch hazel are the base. Fill the bottle 3/4 or so with half rum and half Whitch Hazel.

Put in a drop or two of each essential oil in the bottle. Then take the fresh leaves and the bay leaf and crush them well, placing them in the bottle. Roll the tangerine peel well to let the scent seep out. And drop in the cloves.

Now, you're supposed to let it sit for awhile (week or so) to let everything steep well. But, not wanting to wait, I found out that sitting the bottle in hot water for awhile (30 min-1 hr) speeds up the steeping. That way you can use it in a day or two instead of in several weeks.
