I have read it somewhere that Apple Cider Vinegar can be made very easily at home using apple pieces, peel, core and any waste from the fruit. So I have tried my hands on making Apple Cider vinegar at home and it turned out to be good.

Please go through the instructable on how to make Apple Cider Vinegar at home.

Collect Apple Pieces and Waste

  • I have cut one apple into pieces and then collected peel and core from two apples. This weighed about 250 grams.

Add Sugar

  • I have cleaned one glass bottle with hot water and added the pieces of apple to the bottle
  • Now I wanted to add about 100 grams of country-made sugar to the apple pieces for fermentation, but only 90 grams was available with me.
  • I have added this country-made sugar on top of the apple pieces in the bottle

Fill With Water and Ferment

  • The bottle has been filled with clean filtered water leaving about half an inch gap from top
  • The bottle was closed with a lid and kept in a corner of kitchen to ferment
  • When I opened the bottle after two days, I found lot of gas escaping from the bottle. Immediately I have transferred the contents to a clean plastic bottle and kept it in the same corner
  • The bottle is opened once in a day and stirred the contents with a clean spoon.

  • After about ten days of fermenting, the apple pieces started floating in the bottle with dark colored liquid collected at the bottom. The gas formation also reduced considerably. Now it is time to collect the Apple Cider Vinegar
  • I have used a clean strainer and a bowl and filtered out the liquid. The dark color may be due to the country-made sugar I have added to the mix.

Add More Sugar

  • I have once again transferred the partially fermented apple pieces back to the bottle and added another 50 grams of country-made sugar on top
  • The bottle has been filled with clean water leaving half an inch gap from top and kept in the same corner for further fermentation.
  • I think I can collect more vinegar till all apple pieces are fully fermented

Transfer Apple Cider Vinegar to Clean Bottle

  • I have transferred the filtered out Apple Cider Vinegar to another clean plastic bottle and put a lid on it
  • There has been some gas formation and white stuff floating on top of the liquid but the smell is very good.
  • The liquid has been stirred everyday till gas formation stopped and the floating white stuff disappeared from the liquid.

Now my Apple Cider Vinegar is ready. It smells real good and tastes somewhat like wine
