Home Gym Dumbbell Rack

IMG_2908D.JPG

This is a single-board project I made in about an hour. I had a 2x4 lying around and we had all sorts of dumbbells scattered throughout our home gym. About an hour later, I had this nice rack to neatly hold and display our weights!

Supplies

I bought a pack of these U-Bolt clamps to hold the weights to the 2x4 board

I also used a 3" hinge at the top of the board to secure it to the wall:

The only other supply was some old ebony stain I had in the basement that I used to stain the board this dark color.

The first thing I did was lightly sand the 2x4 board and applied a coat of Ebony stain to get this beautiful dark color. I used a rag to apply the stain and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes before wiping the board dry.

Next, I evenly spaced the uBolt hardware and drilled all of the holes necessary to install the hardware in an arrangement that would nicely display my dumbbells. You will have to decide what measurements you'll want to use depending on the length of your board, number of weights, etc...

Finally, I installed a 3" door hinge and secured the rack to my wall as shown. This allowed me to put the rack on an angle while also providing plenty of support as the downward pressure from the weights really puts all of the strain the the bottom of the board and not on your wall.
