What makes a holiday better than family, friends and good food?
We enjoy breakfast food any time of day and this light crispy French toast is one of our favorites!

Gather Ingredients for Syrup

1 1/2 Cup white sugar
3/4 Cup buttermilk
1/2 Cup butter
2 Tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 Can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring

Cook Syrup

Add all ingredients to sauce pan except flavorings.
1 1/2 Cup white sugar
3/4 Cup buttermilk
1/2 Cup butter
2 Tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 Can sweetened condensed milk

Boil for 7 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add vanilla and maple.
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring

Ready to Serve

Cool slightly and pour into a serving container.

1 Cup flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 Cup vegetable oil

Dry Ingredients

Whisk together all dry ingredients in mixing bowl, large enough in diameter to fit a slice of bread.
1 Cup flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Liquid Ingredients

Add all liquid ingredients to dry ingredients and whisk together.
1 Cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 Cup vegetable oil

Fry

On medium high, heat enough oil in frying pan to float French toast.

Trim and shape slices of bread according to personal preference.

Coat both sides of bread in batter and fry to a light golden brown.

Serve and Enjoy

Plate and garnish according to personal preference.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Top with buttermilk syrup.
Top with berry preserves and whipped cream.
Add coconut flavoring to syrup instead of maple.
Etc.
