Holder for IPad, IPhone, Apple Watch and Cable Storage

IMG_9592.JPG

I will show how I organized the charging of different devices by using an 8 Port charging unit.

I have many mobile devices as tablets, iPhones, watches, e-readers, MP3 players etc. These devices are connected to an 8 Port USB Charging unit. Many USB cables with different device plugs are lying around the charging place and also the mobile devices are at this place. I keep having problems to find the correct cable if I want to charge the devices in this unorganized cable chaos. So I had to find a solution that solves cable chaos.

I designed a holder with a space for an 8 port USB charging unit under the holder for the device.

The outer dimension of the holder is 135mm x 116 mm.

The inner dimension is smaller because the corners are 16 x 16 mm. That results in an inner area of the 8 Port charger 103 x 84 mm and a height of 50mm

Cable holder size: 135 x 150mm

Cable holder extension size: 135 x 90 mm

When they will be connected together the size is 135 x (150 + 90)mm

Many USB cables with different device plugs are located around the charging place and also the mobile devices are at this place. This design helps you to have an overview about the cables. While charging the mobile devices can be fixed into one of the 4 slots. A holder for an Apple watch is integrated as well as a holder for a Garmin Watch Forerunner 55.

The cables are hanging at a cable holder to have an overview about the different plug types and to find at once the cable you want to use.

The exploded drawing shows how you have to put the parts together.

Use 12 x wood screw M2 x 10mm with flat heads to connect the parts

Supplies

3D printer

PLA Filament

12 x Wood screws M2 x 10 with flat heads

Screw driver for the screws

8 Port USB Charging, you will find different one here

Print the .STL Parts With 3D Printer

Screenshot Zusammenbau Halter.png

There some parts to print.

  1. Cable holder
  2. Cable holder extention
  3. Device holder lower part
  4.  4 x Corners
  5. Device holder for iPad, iPhones etc
  6. Holder for Apple watch
  7. Holder for Garmin Watch
  8. 2 x dowels d=6mm xh=6mm

Download the .stl parts from cults3D.com

After the printing of the parts you have to mount the parts together like 3d puzzle.

Connect the Device Holder Lower Part and the 4 Corners With the Screws

The corners have wholes with a diameter 2mm. So use the screws that will fit into the wholes.

(M2 x 10mm) or (M2 x 12mm)

Now you are able to check if your 8 Port USB charging unit will have enough space as it will be set on the lower part of the holder.

Connect the 4 Corners and Device Holder for IPad With the Screws

Now you have the main unit. You can use it without mounting the additional parts for the watches.
