High Detailed Long Lasting Mold for CEMENT TINY FIGURES

A friend wanted to give a miniature facade from his house as a gift when someone visited him. So I took pictures of his house, modeled the facade in 3D, printed it, took out molds, and showed him how to make them in white concrete. It was a great experience and can be applied to anything we want to make a small replica of. I hope you enjoy this instructable. I hope it will be useful to you.

Un amigo deseaba dar de regalo una fachada miniatura de su casa cuando alguien lo visitara. Así que tomé fotos de su casa, modelé la fachada en 3D, la imprimí, saqué moldes y le enseñé como hacerlas en cemento blanco. Take photos of the facade of the house.

In this case the facade was very long and there was not much space to get away from it and take a photo from a good distance, so it was necessary to take many photos and then put them together.

In Illustrator I traced the photo, leaving it only in lines to make it easier to model.

En Illustrator calqué la foto, dejándola sólo en líneas para que fuera más fácil de modelar.

I modeled the facade in 3D, based on the lines that I had drawn in Illustrator. I chose to leave it 16.5 cm wide and added 2 cm deep.

Modelé la fachada en 3D, basándome en las líneas que había dibujado en Illustrator. Elegí dejarla de 16,5 cm de ancho y le agregué 2 cm de profundidad.

After 3D printing, it was necessary to sand some parts to make it as smooth as possible.

Después de imprimirla en 3D, fue necesario lijar algunas partes para que quedara tan lisa como fuera posible.

On the cardboard I put the printed house and drew its outline. Then I made the same drawing with an offset of 1.5 cm, I cut it out and covered it with tape. After this, I cut out rectangles that would serve as walls for the box, 3 cm high, covered them with tape, and glued them together with the base to create a box for the mold.

Sobre cartón paja puse la casa impresa en 3D y dibujé su contorno. Después hice el mismo dibujo con un desfase de 1.5 cm, lo recorté y lo cubrí con cinta. Después de esto recorté rectángulos que sirvieran de paredes para la caja, con 3 cm de alto, los cubrí con cinta y los pegué a la base y con el resto de paredes a la base para así crear una caja en la que se pudiera crear el molde.

With double-sided tape I glued the 3D printed house to the bottom of the cardboard box, then I mixed the rubber-silicone with the catalyst as well as I could (in the percentages given by the supplier). Then I poured this over the house (inside the mold box) and for a while, I gently lifted it from the table and let it fall (about 3 cm) to give it some blows and all the air that remained inside came out. When no more bubbles came out, leave it still for 24 hours. Then I opened the cardboard box (no matter if it was damaged) and took the mold out, then I took the 3D printed house out of the mold and the mold was ready to take out as many reproductions as we wanted.

Con cinta doble faz pegué la casa impresa en 3D al fondo de la caja hecha en cartón paja, después mezclé tan bien como pude la cauchosilicona con el catalizador (en los porcentajes dados por el proveedor). Después vertí este sobre la casita (dentro de la caja del molde) y por un rato lo levanté suavemente de la mesa y lo dejaba caer (aprox a 3 cm) para asi darle algunos golpes y que saliera todo el aire que quedaba en el interior, cuando ya no salieron más burbujas lo deje quieto por 24 horas. Después abrí la caja de cartón paja (sin importar que se dañara) y saqué el molde, después saqué la casa impresa 3D del molde y el molde quedó listo para sacar cuantas reproducciones quisiéramos.

To make the houses, I mixed white cement with water until it looked a bit like milk cream, this was poured into the mold and with the mold against the table I tapped until no more bubbles came out (to make sure there was no air inside) then I waited a while for it to dry and repeated the process to create more houses.

Para hacer las casitas, mezclé cemento blanco con agua hasta que pareciera un poco como crema de leche, este se vertía en el molde y con el molde contra la mesa di pequeños golpes hasta que no salieran más burbujas (para asegurarme de que no quedara aire en el interior) después esperaba un rato para que se secara y repetía el proceso para crear más casitas.

The last step was to paint them with acrylic paints and they were ready to give as gifts.
