Hide Your Valuables in a Fake PVC Drain.
The new addition to our house created a hodgepodge of PVC pipes in the basement. If your house has PVC pipes in the basement, you can create a very easy PVC hiding place for your important documents. A PVC clean out plug gave me the idea that its easy to get inside PVC piping. So, I created a fake PVC drainage/sewer pipe as a hiding place amongst the tangle of PVC piping near our utility sink. You can hide money, documents and other valuables in your basement. Only a plumber would ever question it.

Location, Location, Location.
Find a spot near the utility sink where you can place the fake PVC drainpipe. I found a spot near to a bunch of pipes next to the real drainpipe.
Materials and Cutting the PVC Pipe.
Materials:
1 – 4 inch to 3 inch PVC Sewer Drain Adaptor
1 - 3 inch to 2 inch PVC adaptor
12 inches of 3 inch PVC pipe
6 inches of 2 inch PVC pipe
1 – 2 inch PVC cleanout plug (any kind)
2 inch to 1 inch PVC Wye (Y) adaptor
6 inches of 1 inch PVC pipe
1 – 1 inch PVC end cap
Caulk and caulk gun
Hacksaw
Elmore’s glue (optional
Use a hacksaw to cut the PVC pieces.
Cut the 3 inch PCV pipe so that it is 12 inches long. I did not make it too long, only 12 inches, because I did not want the decoy pipe to tip and that was plenty of room to hold valuables.
Cut the 2 inch PVC pipe so that your have two pieces, one measuring 4 inches long and the other piece 2 inches long.
Cut the 1 inch PVC pipe so you have a 6 inch long piece.

Assemble the Fake Drain Pipe.
Assemble the decoy drainpipe by fitting the 12 inch long 3 inch PVC pipe into the 4 inch to 3 inch sewer drain adaptor. The sewer drain adaptor will be caulked to the floor.
Add Adapter for Side Pipe.
Next, place the 4 inch piece of 2 inch PVC pipe between the 3 inch to 2 inch adaptor and the Wye (Y) adaptor.
Insert Short Side Pipe.
Place the 1 inch piece of pipe with an end cap on the Wye (Y) adaptor which can act as a handle and a added decoy pipe.
End Cap.
Use the small 2 inch long piece of 2 inch PVC pipe as the connecting piece between the top of the Wye (Y) adaptor and the PVC clean out plug.
Optional Glue.
Fit all the pieces together, and if you want you can glue the pieces together. Rather than using PVC glue, I just used a small amount of Elmore’s glue on all of the pieces except where the 3 inch PVC pipe fits into the floor drain adaptor.
Caulk the Base to the Floor.
Remove the sewer drainpipe base adaptor and caulk it to the floor.
Hide Your Valuables.
Place your valuables in a Ziploc bag, such as foreign currency and a passport just in case you need to get away fast.
Place the bag in the 3 inch PVC pipe and place into the sewer drain floor adaptor.
Place the bag in the 3 inch PVC pipe and place into the sewer drain floor adaptor.
