Hibiscus Syrup
Hibiscus syrup is super easy to make. It's a nice, refreshing drink when watered down, or can be amazing if poured over ice cream, pancakes etc!
What you'll need is:
500 ml of water
10 grams of dried hibiscus flowers,
50 grams of sugar
Measure All Your Ingedients
To be honest, when I usually make this I eyeball it, it doesn't matter too much if the ratio is off. Just remember that if you add more flowers, the taste will be more concentrated; if you add more sugar it'll be sweeter.
I like mine not too sweet so I stick to the ratio I mentioned before. Throw everything into a saucepan (or some other type of pan) and turn on the stove.
Bring It to a Simmer
Bring the mixture to a soft simmer and leave it for 10 minutes. Afterwards, strain it into a container, making sure to squeeze every drop of awesomeness from the flowers. Let it cool down!
Make It Into a Drink!
I like my drinks a bit watered down, so I use about this much for a full glass of hibiscus drink. It's slightly tart and sour, but sweet enough to be pleasant. Enjoy!
