Herrenschnitte / German Recipe for Delicious Beef on Black Bread
Once seen and eaten in a very rural restaurant, I was immediately enthusiastic about the "Herrenschnitte". The funny name probably means something like "something sliced, disk-shaped, that noble gentlemen like to eat".
Since the preparation did not seem to be particularly complex, we tried it out at home and were delighted with our result. Here it comes:

Supplies
Ingredients:
Roast beef
Brown bread (Wholemeal bread)
Lettuce
Gorgonzola (blue mould cheese)
Cocoa beans
Coffee beans
Peppercorns
Frying oil
Instructions
Preheat the oven to approx. 85° C with hot air.
Cover the slices of brown / black wholemeal bread (typical German) on a plate or board with green, washed lettuce leaves.
Another type of bread will certainly work well too. With its strong, malty taste, the black bread gives the men's cuts a special touch.
Cut the Gorgonzola cheese into thin slices, max. 1 cm thick.
Put two parts coffee beans, two parts cocoa beans and one part peppercorns in a mortar and crush the spices until they are almost powdery.
Put the roast beef in a bowl, sprinkle the spices over it and massage them vigorously into the meat. Don't add any salt. You won't miss it!
Put the meat in the hot pan with the oil. Fry briefly from both sides.
Put the roast beef on a baking tray with baking paper and put it in the oven for about 35 minutes at 85° C (approx. 185° F).
Take it out briefly after 25 minutes, spread the Gorgonzola slices on the meat and put it back in the oven for the remaining ten minutes.
Remove the roast beef from the baking tray and place one each on the prepared black bread.

A good red wine goes well with it.
