Heart and Customizable Croc Pins

These are my heart and customizable croc pins. I wanted to make them because, buying a croc pin costs around $2-3. I didn't want to spend that much on a couple of plastic pins, so I made my own. I made one heart pin and a customizable one, as well.

The customizable pin is almost like a base for whatever pin you want to design. you can use any materials you have at home to recreate your favorite pins, and all that without spending a dime.

The link to the finished pins are provided below.

Supplies

  1. Fusion 360 (free version)
  2. 3D printer

Create the Base

First create a sketch, on the x-y bottom plane. Then make a circle with a diameter of 0.48”. Extrude the circle by 0.15”

Make another sketch of a circle on top of the previous one. This one should have a diameter of 0.3” and will be extruded by 0.25”.

Again make another circle in the sketch setting with a diameter of 0.6” on top of the previous circle. Extrude that circle by 0.10".

For a customizable pin, you can stop here. However, for a heart pin, continue to follow the next few steps.

To make the heart charm, create a rectangle in sketches (to the side of the base pin) with the measurements of 0.9” x 0.2”, Then use the line tool to make a 45° angle from the corner of the rectangle. It should be 1.5” long.

Next add a circle by the rectangle, with a diameter of 0.55". use the tangent tool to bring the circle into contact with the 45° angle. Do the same with the other side of the circle and rectangle. After creating the half heart shape, use the mirror tool to duplicate the circle, and angle, use the rectangle as the mirror line. Lastly cut away all of the unnecessary lines with the trim tool. Click finish sketch, and extrude the heart by 0.15".

To connect the pin and the heart use the move tool to bring the heart directly on-top of the pin.
