My wife LOVES cookies even more than chocolate
Her absolute favorite cookie is Oreos
So it's no surprise that this Valentine's Day, instead of getting her a box of chocolates, I made my own Oreos and gave them to her
But to make them seem like a Valentine's Day gift, I made them in the shape of hearts
And even made them bigger than the original Oreos
These cookies taste exactly like the origional but have a lot less sugar
Which is great because you could eat more in one sitting
You could even dye the icing pink or red but I knew my wife would love them with white icing
These Oreos are delicious and crispy and I will definitely not be buying them from the store anymore
My wife won't either

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder or sweetened

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional 1 cup sugar. If you are using sweetened cocoa powder you can skip the sugar. But if you want to sweeter cookie you can add in 1/4 cup sugar

In a large bowl, add in the melted butter. Whisk together the melted butter until it is cool and smooth. Add in the egg and whisk together. At this point you can add in the sugar. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Start to add in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients a spoon out of time. Continue this until all the dry ingredients are incorporated into the wet ingredients. At this point, you could mix with your hands until you get a dough. Roll out dough cookie dough flat onto a floured surface and get a heart shaped cookie cutter and start cutting out the cookies. Line a pan with wax paper and plays the cookies on to the pan. Bake the cookies for nine minutes at 375°. After the cookies are baked set them on a rack to cool completely.

Making the Filling

You could use any kind of filming for the Oreo cookie but if you want the original one follow this recipe.
1/4 cup room temperature unsalted butter

1/4 cup vegetable shortening

2 cups sifted powdered sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

To make the filling, placed the butter and shortening in a bowl. A large bowl. Beat the butter and shortening together until it is light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the sugar and vanilla extract for 2 to 3 minutes until it gets fluffy. And that's it! :-)

If you want to frost the cookies easier you can put the icing into a piping bag.

Get one of the cooled Oreo cookies and place onto a plate. Pipe a thin layer of the filling on top of the cookie. It doesn't really matter what kind of tip you have because it won't show. Get another Oreo cookie and place it right on top of the filling. Lightly press, to work the filling evenly to the outsides of the cookie. Continue this process until all the cookies have been sandwiched with cream. Place all of the prepared Oreo cookies into the refrigerator until ready to be eaten.
