With some extra time on our hands, here is an easy (and yummy!) recipe to show someone you care!

Supplies

2 sticks of unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder ¼ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon kosher salt 1 ½ cups sugar 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 3 large eggs 1 cup whole milk Red food dye for coloring Frosting of choosing 1 cup thinly sliced strawberries

After buttering pans, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Use an electric mixer to beat the butter and sugar together. After 3 minutes, beat in the vanilla, eggs (one at a time). Next mix in the dry mixture, followed by the milk. Add in food coloring if wanted. Next, pour out the mixture into two pans (square/rectangle, and round).

After baking for 22 minutes, poke cakes with toothpicks to be sure they are cooking thoroughly. Once they are done in the oven, transfer to a cooling rack for 15 minutes. Once cakes are completely cooled, cut the circle cake in half; (make rectangle cake into a square if you used a rectangle pan).

Frost the cake with your choice of frosting. Add strawberries (optional). Use heart stencil for powdered sugar design. Enjoy!
