I was amazed to find out that I struggled to find a pair of 100% 3D printable foldable toy Glasses on thingiverse so I made it my duty to design and build a pair! It just so happened that Instructables is running a Hearts Contest hence the theme :)

Ive Uploded the STL files and the Fusion 360 CAD files to thingiverse so you can always customize the frame of the Glasses to suit your inner creative spirit!!!

Supplies

PLASTIC:

The parts can be printed in PLA or PETG or ABS, preferably in red to match the heart theme

3D PRINTER:

Minimum build platform required: L150mm x W150mm x H10mm

You could fit the parts on a L120mm x W120mm x H10mm Printer if you print the parts diagonally

Any 3d printer will do. I personally printed the parts on the Creality Ender 3 which is a low cost 3D printer under 200$ The prints turned out perfectly.

Printing the Parts

All the Parts are available to download on Thingiverse

I Meticulously designed all of the glasses parts to be 3D printed without any support materials ,rafts or brims required while printing.

All the parts were test printed on the Creality Ender 3

Print time: Approx 80 Minutes

Material: PETG

Layer Height: 0.3mm

Infill: 15%

Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm

The parts list for the glasses is as follows:

1x Frame

1x Left hinge

1x Right hinge

1x Left stick

1x Right stick

4x Square clips

Assembling the Glasses

The assembley is pretty straight forward so long as you remember which Hinge and Stick goes on which side you'll have these Glasses up and ready in no time!

  1. Slot the Hinges in to the frame
  2. Secure with 2 Square clips
  3. Slot the Sticks in to the Hinges
  4. Secure with 2 Square clips
