"Hearble Partition" is a product that enables comfortable two-way communication while preventing infection by embedding a microphone and speaker in the partition.

Talking the partition, the voice will be amplified and delivered through the partition.

Supplies

  • Acrylic glass
  • Stand (3D printed)
  • Microphone
  • Vibration speaker
  • The use of a vibration speaker provides clear audio with less howling.
  • Raspberry Pi (Zero)

Make a Stand

The stand is designed to make the acrylic stand and to hold the microphones ,speakers and board.

The main problem with this product is how to solve the howling.

There are both hardware and software solutions.

First, the vibrating speaker is placed so that it is glued to the acrylic. This allows the acrylic itself to vibrate and deliver the voice.

Second, the microphone should be placed slightly away from the stand. The vibration of the stand will not be transmitted directly.

Thirdly, and this is optional, let's implement noise canceling technology in software. There are several libraries available, but they require a high level of skill to adjust.

Attaching the Acrylic Glass

Sandwich the acrylic to the stand.

The size of the acrylic depends on the purpose. A thickness of 5 mm is common.

Basically, the thicker it is, the harder it is to hear the voice.

Install the Raspberry Pi

You can use either a standard Raspberry Pi or a smaller type (RaspberryPi Zero).

Since the Raspberry Pi Zero has limited processing power, it is better to experiment with the regular Raspberry Pi first.

For audio processing, you can use a library called "GStreamer".

You can use the "GStreamer" library for audio processing, which allows you to adjust the volume and use a noise-canceling system.

Audio Test

Test it in different places and with different people.

You'll find that the right shape will depend on the purpose, whether it's for a conference room or for retail.

Repeat the prototyping process to get the best product.
