Headless Horseman Costume

This halloween classic is a tricky costume task . When done right, it will look amazing

Making the Frame

This frame will sit above your head. Creating some shoulders.
First, gaffa tape 2 equal lengths of garden bamboo to a coat hanger. The lengths should just reach your belt.

The Bulk


We need to stuff the top half of the costume with newspaper so that it has an actual shape .
Try and gaffa tape it to the frame .
Try and gaffa tape it to the frame .
Removing the Hanger Hook

Snap/ saw off the hanger hook
Most Difficult Bit


Take some kids fabric costume trousers and cut a large square. Use it to cover the wire neck frame. The gaffa tape will not be seen.
The Main Bit.

This is the difficult bit.
We are going to have to sew / hot glue the cape and frame together.

The No Head Effect

Using a length of wire coat hanger, bend it into a circle and hot glue it down into the capes collar.
Glueing the Wire Neck Frame

Glue the wire neck frame to the cape like so.
The Lace

You can get a black lace sort of tablecloth from poundland for, you guessed it, £1 !
A section of this will be glued to the false neck as a crovat.

The Second Cape
Drape the second larger cape around the structure.
Final Result




When wearing the bamboo shoulder secures fasten them in place with a belt.
This is a kids/ adults costume.
