Head on Platter

A head on a platter, signature Halloween design. Search it up, hundreds of results. What if you could make your own, special, unique, head on platter design. I have made my own and you can too with just materials around your house! Make it scary, make it cute, make it spooky, but just make it your style. It may not be as fancy as other store-bought designs, but it could be more of your unique mind.

All of these items you could have laying around your house.

• Cardboard(Any Size)
• String(Any Color[Optional])
• Paint or Markers
• Paint Applies(Sponge, Paintbrush, or Popsicle Sticks Will Work)
• Styrofoam or Mannequin Head
• Knife or Scissors
• Glue or Tape

First, take your cardboard and cut it into a preferable size in a sphere shape mine is 15 inches by 11 inches. You want to make sure the edges are a clean cut so it can feel more realistic. You also will want to make sure that the size will fit the head you are making. If you are making a bigger head, a bigger cardboard size will be preferable. If it is a smaller head a smaller cardboard size will be fine.

Using your markers or paints, color the platter to a white or gray color. Once that dries you can color in food, I drew in broccoli, cheese, and celery. Let that dry and move onto step three.

Cut your string into sizeable bits. Then you can color the string into the hair color you would like, I did black. This is an optional step if you don't want hair just move on to the next step.

Now you can get your own mannequin head and skip this step or you could make your own. Take your foam and cut it into the size you would like. Next add facial features like eye sockets, a nose, and a mouth. I did skip this step as I got a mannequin head.

To do this I just colored the front a brown color and the back a black color. I do have an eye so I colored that black. You could color these any colors you would like. In this step, you can add the hair from step three if you had any.

To do this step you can just take red paint and make a circle where your head can go. I also make splatters of red paint around. Something you can do is paint your hand red and then push it down on the platter. This will give a bloody hand effect.

I just used glue to do this. You could also use tape. This will make the head and the platter one and will come out with the final look.

This is the final product! You have completed the design and added another decoration for your household this Halloween.
