this is my first instructable. please be pantience with me,due to I dont speak english very well.

*The main purpose of this instructable is to take your favorite classic games everywhere inside a usb joystic, In order to run it in any Pc or Laptop,without installing any program.a real s.o linux arcade will be inside the joystic

You will be able to play :

# El objetivo de este instructable es poder llevar con nosotros nuestros juegos clásicos favorito dentro un joystick usb . poder jugarlos en cualquier pc o portátil sin instalar nada y dejando todo tal cual estaba al desconectarlo de pc . podras jugar

*My first goal was to make the minor possible modifications in the
joystick in order to make it an affordable and a cheapest solution, therefore I tried to weld in serial the usb joystick cable with the flash drive trying to achieve something like an USB passive hub but...... unfortunately, the flash drive and joystick were not recognized simultaneously. Therefore, I had two choices: to use an internal hub with a single wire or to use two wires from the joystick, so I chose to use the usb two wires due to the large size of the hub that I could get in my location.

#mi primer objetivo fue lograr hacer las menores modificaciones posibles al joystick y que fuera la solución mas barata, por tanto intente soldar el serie el cable usb del joystick con el de la memoria usb intentando lograr algo así como un hub usb pasivo, infortunadamente el pendrive y joystick no son reconocidos al mismo tiempo.

Por lo tanto: o usaba un hub interno y usaba un solo cable o usaba 2 cables desde el joystick ,me decidí por los 2 cables usb debido al gran tamaño de los hub que puedo conseguir en mi localidad

* unscrew the Joystick and look for the best place to host the usb memory and cable

# desatornille busque el mejor lugar en donde alojar la memoria usb y el cable

* Drill a hole through the joystick with the same diameter as the
USB cable, cut the wire leaving female plug with suitable diameter

# perfore un agujero atraves del joystick del diámetro igual al del cable usb

corte el cable dejando la hembra del diámetro adecuado

* solder again the cut usb cable according to the colors or Check the continuity with a volmeter

# despues de pelar la puntas de ambos lados del cable usb , solde respetando los colores o compruebe la continuidad con un voltimetro

* Hold the cables to the chassis by using hot glue e Put the wires together if you wish

# asegure los cables al chasis usando silicona.junte los cables si lo prefiere

*plug the pendrive to the female usb inside. screw the joystic and plug to pc the cables

# conecte el pendrive a la toma que hemos dejado dentro del joystick . cierre con tornillos . conecte al pc ambos cables el joystick y la memoria

*System Installation
the key of our Classic Arcade games joystick is the persistent portable Linux installed on the usb flash drive . A pen drive with a live operating system installed on it, has the advantage of turning machines pc or laptop before entering the Windows installed on the hard disk, It runs all sorts of programs (actually a complete operating system) and then leaves in an undetectable manner without touching anything. We installed it in our usb in a persistently way, I mean all the changes that occur during our session will be recorded on the USB memory and remain available for the following sessions.the room we download progress in games and so on. Although there are several ways to install different Linux distributions and highly configurables I have chosen a Linux version called Arcade Puppy due to this version is intended for pre installed games and brings many emulators as well as drivers for the joysticks. #instalacion del sistema

la clave de nuestro Classic games Arcade portable joystick esta el Linux persistente instalado en el la memoria .

Un pendrive con un sistema operativo live instalado en el, tiene la ventaja de poder encender maquinas pc o laptops antes de entrar en el Windows instalado en el disco duro , ejecutar todo tipo de programas ( en realidad un sistema operativo completo ) y luego salir de forma indetectable sin haber tocado nada .

Nosotros la instalaremos en nuestra usb de forma persistente es decir que los cambios que ocurran durante nuestro sesión se graben en la memoria usb y queden disponibles para las siguientes sesiones .las room que descarguemos los avances en los juegos etc

aunque existen varias formas de instalar y varias distribuciones de Linux muy configurables nosotros hemos elegido una versión de puppy Linux llamada puppy arcade ya que esta destinada para juegos y trae pre instalados muchos emuladores y driver para joystick

copie la imagen ISO descargada en un cd o dvd virgen

burn the downloaded iso imagen to the cd

*This cd is able to boot your machine with arcade puppy instead of Windows.

1. Get ready to act quickly: You need to start the computer and press a key on the keyboard before the BIOS hands over control to Windows. You have only a few seconds to perform this step.

2. Boot (or restart) the PC: Pay close attention to the first screen that appears. Look for a message that indicates which key you need to press in order to access the BIOS. That key is likely to be:

--A Function key (such as F1, F2, or F3)

--The Esc key

--The Delete key

in BIOS choose to boot from the cd or the dvd.

# Este cd es capaz de arrancar su maquina con puppy arcade en lugar de Windows . para hacerlo debe colocarlo en su computadora y cuando este en los primero segundos del encendido, debe ingresar al menú del bios y elegir bootear desde cd or dvd . Para ingresar al bios debe teclear lo que le informe la pantalla de inicio, generalmente:

una tecla de funcion como f2 o f12 o f9 o delete o esc

*wait for puppy arcade turn on .You will an desktop as in the picture :

now is time to install puppy arcade inside our USB flash drive that is inside the joystick . use the tool called

puppy universal installer

go to: menu --- setup----- puppy universal installer

# espere que puppy arcade encienda . tendra un escritorio similar al de la foto .

como nuestro objetivo es correrlo desde usb pendrive que esta dentro
del joystick ,no desde el cd, utilizaremos la herramienta llamada

puupy universal instaler

vaya a menu --- setup----puppy universal installer

* choose install to a usb stick ( first opcion ).

Choose your usb pendrive .

Choose from CD

Choose “mbr.bin from the syslinux package or default

You may need to set the usb stick’s partition to have a ‘boot’ flag set

using a great tool called gparted. Gparted is quite easy to use, just read what comes up on the purple popup.

# elija install to a usb stick ( primera opcion ).

elija su dispositivo : generalmente linux nombra su pendrive usb como sdb1

Elija cd

elija mbr.bin o default

Es posible que nesesite modificara la particion

Para que sea booteable debe tener un bandera( flag) .si se lo pide revise la particion con gparted que esta en el sistema livedel cd y esta disponible

An orange box should pop up. Press enter to continue.

Congratulations; the stick should now boot Puppy arcade

Es posible que nesesite modificara la particion Para que sea booteable debe tener un bandera( flag) .si se lo pide revise la particion con gparted que esta en el sistema live del cd y esta disponible

en el cuadro narajana presione enter

Listo ya tienes puppy arcade en el pendrive

*Now shutdown ---reboot ---extract the cd , do not save yet

You can use BIOS boot order or a boot menu to boot off USB pendrive

now in puppy arcade from usb, you can configure zone , time .etc
open the room loader program and configure emulators ,bios, joystics .etc

#Ahora puedes darle menu shutdown -- reboot extraer el cd -- no salves nada aun

al reiniciar cambia el orden de booteo de la bios de cd a el pendrive usb

ahora estaras dandole boot al pc la memoria que esta en el joystick

procede a configurar idioma red etc

abreel programa room loader que se encuentra en el escritorio y configura: emuladores ,bios, joypads etc

*now in the first shutdown you can save the session (all you personal data and settings)for the next boot

# en el primer apagado puedes guardar todas tu preferencias archivos , las roms descargadas quedaran en tu pendrive para el siguiente booteo

download your favorite romms and enjoy in any pc or laptop .
