Harry Potter Wand With Lights

Have you ever wished that you were in the world of Harry Potter? Once you build this you will be in the world of magic. The wand will look regular, but light will be there and a tiny hidden button. Have fun building.

Supplies

Harry Potter Wand, male-female wires, tin foil, cardboard, spray paint the color of your wand, white LED, 2 AA batteries, 2 AA battery holder, and clear tape.

Making the Switch

Cut out a two-inch by a one-centimeter piece of cardboard. Roll up one end of it so it has a kind of ball at the end. Glue it so it will stay. Cover the straight end with tin foil. Glue a wire to it so the metal of the wire touches the tin foil. Glue the ball-like thing to a place that you can easily touch. Glue another piece of tin foil to a wire. Position it under the tin foil of the cardboard. Make it so that when you push the tin foil that is on the cardboard piece, the two pieces of tin foil will touch. That will complete the circuit, making the light go on. Next step you will be adding the light and the wires.

Wires and Lights

Attach a red wire to the positive side of your LED. Attach the end of the tin foil wire to the negative side of the LED. Do not attach the tin foil wire that is on THE CARDBOARD PIECE. Glue the LED to the top of your wand. Take out your AA batteries and put them in your holder. Add one female and one male to the positive and negative sides of your holder. Attach a wire from the positive side of your battery holder to the positive side of the LED. Finally, attach the wire from the negative side of your battery holder to the switch. Turn your battery on, and when you push the cardboard and tin foil piece onto the other tin foil piece, it should complete the circuit and the light should go on. Your wand may look strange, but in the next step, you will make it look more complete.

Painting

Spray paint your wand but be careful to not get paint off the LED. This will make the wires and the switch blend in any more. Thank you for building this. Have fun!
