Harry Potter Potions

Really simple Harry Potter potions. That are super fun to make.

Materials

You will need:

  • Small glass bottles
  • Sparkles
  • Food colouring
  • White corn syrup
  • Corn oil/ vegetable oil
  • Super glue
  • Twine
  • Small labels

Amortentia: Love Potion

Amortentia is the world's strongest love potion. You will need two shades of fine pink sparkles, a glass bottle and white corn syrup.

Step One

Put a little bit of corn syrup in the bottle and add some light pink sparkles and a little bit of the darker pink sparkles and mix it (I found a skewer worked best for mixing). Continue adding more sparkles and more syrup until the bottle is full.

Wipe the rim of the bottle to get off all the corn syrup. Next, put a little bit of super glue around the edge of the cork and put it in the bottle.

Step Three

Write the name of the potion on the label. This one is called Amortentia and it is a love potion. Next, cut a piece of twine and loop it through the label. Tie it around the bottle neck and then you are done.

Dr. Ubbly's Oblivious Unction

Dr. Ubbly's is a potion that heals woods given by thoughts. You will need a glass bottle, water, blue food colouring, and corn or vegetable oil.

Step One

Fill the bottle about half full with water and add a couple of drops of blue food colouring and mix it together.

Fill the rest of the bottle with the oil. Wipe the rim of the bottle and glue on the cork the same way you did with the first potion.

Write the label, Dr. Ubbly's or Dr. Ubbly's Oblivious Unction. Cut a piece of twine and loop it through the label. Tie it to the bottle and it is finished.

Gillyweed

Gillyweed is a plant that once ingested will give the person webbing between the fingers and toes and gills allowing the person to breath under water.

You will need a glass bottle, water, green food colouring and some green plastic plant foilage.

Step One

Fill three-quarters of the bottle with water and add a couple drops of green food colouring and mix it.

Next take your pieces of plastic foliage and put then in the bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle up with water and glue your cork in place.

Step Three

Write your label, this one is Gillyweed. Cut a piece of twine. Loop the twine through the label and tie it around the neck of the bottle.

Polyjuice Potion

Polyjuice potions allows the drinker to assume the form of someone else while still remaining themselves.

You will need a glass bottle, corn of vegetable oil and green food colouring.

Put some green food colouring in the bottle, then fill the bottle about three-quarters full with oil and mix. Add more food colouring if you think it needs it and fill the remainder of the bottle with oil. Wipe the rim and glue the cork into place.

Write your label, Polyjuice or Polyjuice Potion. Cut a piece of twine and loop it through the label. Tie the label around the neck of the bottle.
