Hanging Planter Repair

Readyforuse.jpg

Every spring there seems to be handing baskets that one or more of the plastic hanging supports have broken off. You can either use the planter as a non-hanging basket or repair it.

Supplies

Tools.jpg
  • paracord or similar material
  • knife or scissors
  • tape measure
  • lighter
  • broken planter(s)

Prepare Your Materials

Cutlength.jpg

I started by determining the length of the 3 paracord replacements to hang the basket the way we liked it. Next I cut the cords to the 24" length needed. Use the lighter to burn the ends of the cut paracord, this will make it much easier to thread the cords through the basket holes. CAUTION: do not use your bare fingers to shape the freshly burnt ends, use the edge of your cutting tool.

Thread and Tie Cords

Thread your cords down, through one hole and back up through the other hole where the planters plastic cords used to be. Next tie the cords with the knot of your choice. I used a simple square knot.

Finishing

Finally, tie the three cords together at the top making sure that the basket will hang level. Now your hanging pot is ready for you to use this season.
