Make a really cool glow-in-the-dark space mural with a 3D Pen! This mural makes any space look classy, and it even glows when all the lights are off! You can make stars, moons, and even planets that will hang high above you on the ceiling. They can even be attached to a wall if you so desire.

You will need:

-A 3D Pen

-Glow in the dark filament

-Other filament colors to make planets

-Fishing line or super thin wire

-Something to cut the fishing line or super thin wire

-A 3D pen mat or masking tape and printer paper

Draw Your Stars

First, you’ll want to preheat your pen. Grab your 3D pen mat or printer paper with masking tape, then insert the glow in the dark filament into the 3D pen when it is heated. Start to draw stars on your page—you can do them in the style of an asterisk, a regular star, or any other star that you want. Next, draw out a moon. Once you have drawn the stars and moon, draw little loops on the top so that the fishing line or wire can slip through them.

Draw a Planet

Next, insert another color of filament into your pen. Push your pen end down on the mat at an angle, and start to extrude the filament. Keep extruding until you have a fairly good-size ball of filament on your pen mat. Start to draw around the ball to build it up, and keep building it up until it has reached a planet-like size. It doesn’t have to be huge, but it should be slightly large. If you want, you can insert another color of filament and make a ring or stripes on the planet’s surface. Once you are done, draw a small hanging loop on the end of the planet.

Next, get out the wire or fishing line. Cut a piece that is about the desired hanging length, leaving a little room to tie it on the bottom and top. Slip the wire through the hanging loop at the top of your stars or planets, and tie it so that it is secure. Repeat with the other planetary shapes in the mural until all of them have a wire or string attached to them. Take all of the shapes over to where you want them to hang from, and start to hang them up in the desired order. Finally, turn the lights off and enjoy a really cool glow in the dark hanging mural!
