I got this idea when once i was playing with ribbon, i accidentally pulled the weaved wire and it started to become all ripped.

So i thought why not use this quality of ribbons to make it a beautiful feather when i saw this bird contest.

Supplies

You need:
White Ribbon
White Thread
Crafting wire (thin silver colored)
Nose pliers
Scissors
Ruler
Tooth brush
Inch tape
Thick crafting wire
Bulb
Bulb holder

Cutting.

Grab a ruler and the ribbon.
Measure the ribbon and cut divisions of the ribbon each measuring 15cm in length using scissors.

Stitching.

Get ready with your sewing machine with white thread.

Now make pairs of the precut ribbons and keep all of these pairs in an overlapping position as shown in the picture.

To make a feather out of these take 9 pairs of the ribbon cuttings.

Then using that sewing machine stitch these ribbon pairs in such a way that every pair is below each other, as i have done in the image. Note that these stitches should be nearly at the centre of the ribbon pairs.

Now take the crafting wire and put this wire between the pairs beside the stitches.

Now beside this wire kept between, using the sewing machine make other set of stitches. These stiches would be on the other side of the wire locking it between ribbons so it doesn't move.

Then make a hook on one side of the wire using a nose plier and on the other side which is the long side of the wire, cut the wire leaving approx a centimeter extra out of the ribbons.
Now bend this wire as I have done in the image.

Unwaeving the Weaved.

You must have seen that ribbons have a bad quality that when you pull the thread present on an end of it, then this thread keeps on getting pulled out making each thread woven veritically to the length of the ribbon to get ripped of. And the ribbon becomes just a bunch of threads. In this step we will be using this disadvantage as our advantage in turning these bunch of ribbon pieces stitched together into a beautiful feather.

Following me in the steps above you must have 18 ribbon pieces stiched together in 9 pairs.

Now grab one of those ribbons from one side and find that thread from pulling which the ribbon gets unraveled. Now start pulling that thread until you reach the stitched center line. As done in the image above.

Take scissors and cut that thread pulled to the center.

Perform the same procedure with the other ribbon parts as well.

Shaping It Like a Feather.

Following the above steps your ribbons now would have been started to look like a feather by now but its not done till yet.

Without giving it a proper shape your feather is incomplete.
Take a tooth brush and make it wet with little water.
Now start to brush ribbon threads into a shape like a bird feather. (Note that the hook we made with the wire should be on the top of the feather).

After this using scissors do some trimming and cuttings to make it more to look like a feather.

Follow the same steps and make atleast 6-7 feathers of this kind.

Making the Lamp Frame.

Now it is time to make the frame of our lamp:

Take the thick crafting wire measuring 26 inches in length and make a ring out of it as I did in the image.

Then take another piece of this thick wire measuring approximately 8-9 inches and shape it like a round ring.

Now we will tie these two rings together in such a way that the smaller ring stays rising up in the air at the center of the larger ring.

For this take 6 pieces of thin wire measuring 17 cm each and tie each one of these wire pieces on the larger ring equidistant from each other and now tie one end of this wire to the smaller ring in such a way that it stays in the air at the center of larger ring as I have done in the above image.

After it we need to tie this whole frame up to the ceinling and for this we need a hook.
To do so make a web like structure using thin wire between the risen up smaller ring and attach a wire loop like structure at the center of this ring as shown in the above image.

At last tie a bulb holder in the center of the web like structure made across the smaller ring.

And now your frame is ready.

Attaching Feather to the Frame.

Bring out all those 7 feathers made.
We will now be attaching the feathers to the smaller ring which is risen in air as in the image.

To do this take small pieces of thin wire and pass one of them through a the hook made in the feathers earlier. After this tie this feather to the smaller ring as done in the image.

Follow the same steps to tie all the feather into the small ring equidistant to each other. (Make sure that the wire are not visible and if it seems to be visible then make some more feathers as per requirement).

INSERT THAT PLUG INTO THE SWITCH BOARD AND SEE HOW IT LIGHTENS UP!
