Hanging Candle Holders
Hello!
These little candle holders can be made from just a jar, some glue and some string. They can be used outside and provide a small, warm glow. I used an old glass yoghurt pot but you can use any jar or pot you may have lying around. Enjoy!
First take a jar and put some double sided tape around the bottom half of it. Make sure that the pieces of tape are roughly the same length.
Now you need to peel the cover off the tape and start winding the string around the bottom and upwards. When there is no more exposed tape, you can cut the string. It should look something like the photo above.
Now you need to wind some string around the top of the jar as well. Make sure to glue it at the starting point and ending point .This step is not essential but will help later on.
Now take some strong glue ( I used superglue but you can use anything really) and put some on the middle of the bottom of the jar. Cut 3 pieces of string to an identical length and attach them like on the photo.
Put a little glue on a small square of cardboard and stick that to the area where the pieces of string meet. You can also use tape but I decided that I would use cardboard as it will probably hold better.
Now take the strings and pull them up past the jar. Make sure to add a small bit of glue to them where the second piece of string is wrapped near the top so that the jar is held secure.
Take the ends of the strings and tie them together so you have a loop like the photo above.
And you are done!
All you have to do is put the loop on something like a tree branch and light the candle. You might be thinking ' wait, the string will burn', but dont worry because as long as your jar is deep enough and you have used a short enough candle, the string will only get warm. Still, remember to never leave a candle unattended.
