An open source 4g linux computer extension for the Ryze Tello drone using the UZ801 Openstick debian version.

Supplies

-Micro USB cable

-UZ801 4g dongle

-Ryze Tello drone

-Lego adapter from Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4976388

-Electronics plier or similar sharp cutting tool

-soldering iron

-solder

-small phillips screw driver

-laptop or computer with internet access and USB

-sim card for data connection

Remove Battery Cage

If you haven't already, go to https://github.com/scivizlabvienna/handsometello/ [https://web.archive.org/web/20260110100040/https://github.com/ScivizLabVienna/HandsomeTello] for the openstick firmware.

Remove the battery cage using electronics pliers or similar tool in order to make room for the dongle.

Remove Plastic Casing

Using a screwdriver remove the plastic casing. It can be reused as a top cover for the drone later.

Remove USB Connector and Attach Wires

Desolder the USB connector and solder on a four wire cable. Color coded recommended.

Route Cable and Connect to Micro USB

After putting the board on top and snapping the Lego adapter in place, carfully route the cable making sure it does not interfere with the Tellos propellers. If using the dongles plastic casing as a top cover, routing as in picture three is recommended.
