Handlebar Mounted Cat (made in Tinkercad)

This is a kitty to take along for rides, it sits and watches the scenery go by with you. This is purely cosmetic and serves no purpose other than looking nice on the bike.

Supplies

Designed in Tinkercad

Printed using a Creality Ender 3 and white PLA filament (any filament can be used)

To mount you need 2 cable ties (zip ties) and a bike to mount it on

Paint (optional. I used acrylic, but any should be fine)

Create Base for Model

Creating the base for the model is one of the most important steps. Place a rectangular prisim of the desired size onto the workspace. then use a cylinder hole to cut into the prisim, making sure its not cutting in too deep and it's properly aligned. idealy, the hole should leave a few millimeters of rectangle for it to be sturdy enough to mount. My model has 3mm clearance between the edges of the cylinder and prisim. Link the shapes. Then add the holes for the cable ties near the top. This is where the model will be secured onto the bike. Link the shapes.

Creating the Model

Now for the fun part! First flip the base so you have a flat working area. Then feel free to create whatever you want! My model is a cat with a food bowl, as shown in the next few steps, but your's can be whatever you want!

The Cat's Body

To make the cat, start with an elongated sphere at a 22.5 degree angle. for the legs, copy the shape twice, resize and make them stand up straight, connect the legs to the body. For the feet, make 4 small ovals and place them on the legs and on the body. to make the tail, place 3 flat ovals on the build area behind the cat and arrange them as you see fit. link all the objects together. i forgot about the tail untill the end, so the head is on the body for the two photos, dont worry, how to make it is in the next step

The Cat's Head

Next thing to do is to make the cat's head. Create a sphere and two rounded cones (Paraboloid). Make one of the cones slightly smaller than the first and turn it into a hole. Link the two objects and copy it. These are the ears. Resize them to fit the sphere and link the 3 objects together. To make the cat's eyes use two spheres, one of them elongated. place the long sphere on top of the unchanged one, link the objects and copy. Resize and place them wherever you want on the cat's face, and for the mouth create a sphere hole, size and link to the face, just under the eyes. Link the head to the body and huzzah! You now have a kitty to place on your base!

The Food Bowl

this is the simplest part of the build. Place a cone, a sphere hole and a rectangle hole on the build area. place the sphere in the cone and link. then to even out the edge, place the rectangle on what remains on the cone. link the objects together.

Once you connect the base to the cat and food bowl, its ready to print. download the file and use your prefered slicer to ready the file for printing. This build will look better if you print supports along with it, just make sure that its attached to the print bed, not the model. Once its printed, its a good time to paint it if you want to. This may take a while to paint what you want on, but it will look nicer. Note: You may need to test print the design to see if everything stays on properly, the photos shown in tinkercad were from before the first print and have since been slightly changed due to size errors.

Attaching to the Bike

Slot the cable ties through the holes on the base as shown. Then place the model on the desired location and tighten the cable ties. Cut off the exess and now you have a cat (or whatever else you made) on your handlebars! For those with keen eyes and who have seen Plankosaurus's Shimano I-Spec2 Shifter Mount, Yes, that is the same bike.
