Hammer Drill Switch Replacement

In this Instructable, I will show you how you can replace the switch on any hammer drill. The drill that I replaced the switch is Parkside PBH 1100 A1 but the wiring is the same on almost any other hammer or regular electrical drill.

On this particular one, the switch was melted inside and did not turn off.

In my case, the body of the drill was held in place with several screws. After removing them, I lifted the cover to expose all of the electronics.

Before starting the work, I first verified that the wiring of the old and new switch are the same and then continued to transplant the wires one by one from the old to the new one.

The two main wires from the AC supply were the easiest since they are held with screws but for the rest, I had to remove the switch cover to be able to expose the pins that push the wires in.

The direction switch was the trickiest and I had to destroy it with pliers in order to gain access to the internals and release the wires.

After all of the wires were transferred, I did put everything back inside the enclosure and returned all of the screws.

The new switch is not 100% equivalent but since the rating is the same it should do the job well.
