Halloween Wall Clock Decoration

I've been wanting a wooden palette wall clock for a long time now. All the ones I found where very expensive, so I decided to make a Halloween palette clock this year. Every year I try to make something different and I came across this amazing site, Instructables, and I am very happy to have a chance to post my projects! It is very easy to make, I had most of what I needed so I spent less than $20.

Step One: Materials and Tools

9 wood palettes
pencil
electric hand saw
sander
drill
wood stain-Minwax Dark Walnut
orange paint, I used Behr, don't have the color because I got it last year on clearance, but any acrylic or dark orange paint will do
paint brush
cardboard
small piece of cloth
screws

Step 2:Put Your Wood Together and Draw Your Circle

The first thing I did was set up my wood on the floor all together. Using a pencil, I drew a very large circle. I used a total of seven palettes, but I wanted my clock to be very very large! On another small piece of scrap plywood, I drew the clock hands.

Step3: Cut the Wood

I used a small electric saw to cut all my wood, including the clock hands.. Once I was done cutting all my pieces, I put them all together on the floor to form my circle. I set aside the clock hands for now. I used two strips of wood and screws to hold them all together.

Step 4: Stain Your Wood

Once my wood was all put together, I was ready for the stain. I used a small piece of cloth and just stained the whole thing, including the clock arms. Gloves is a must if you are not using a brush!

Step 5: Draw and Paint the Numbers

I drew my numbers on a piece of cardboard first, then cut them to use as stencils. I drew the numbers with pencil, then painted them with a beige paint.

Step 6: Add the Orange Paint

This should have been done before making the numbers, but it was not in my plans to add orange in the first place. I just brushed orange paint all over it.

Step 7: Decorate

Last thing I did was added some Halloween decorations. I had a canvas cloth, I cut out the house and moon from there. You can find this in any fabric store. I also bought some spiders from the dollar store. I added screws to the spiders and clock hands, and glued the fabric using wood glue. If you want to hang this, all you have to do is screw on some hanging hooks in the back and you are set!
