Halloween Shaped Peanut Butter Cups
In this instructable, I will show you how to make some really cool Halloween Shaped Peanut Butter Cups. These little tasty treats are super yummy, and are sure to impress your friends and family. What a great way to celebrate Halloween, by having some Halloween themed/shaped Peanut butter cups. They taste better then Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! They are also really easy to make. Follow the steps below or watch the short video tutorial, or do both! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of Peanut Butter (65 g)
1/4 cup + 1Tbs of powdered sugar (35g)
1/8 tsp of salt (.85 to 1 g)
2 tsp of softened butter (28 g)
1 - 4oz chocolate bar + 1/4 cup of chocolate chips (5.5 oz, about 160g)
Halloween molds (plastic or silicone)
Get a Mold
We need a Halloween mold. I got this one for a dollar at my supermarket last year in the clearance bin, right after halloween, the best time to shop for halloween stuff. :) Of course, as long as you don't mind waiting for another year. haha :) This mold is plastic, probably why it was so cheap. If you have the money buy silicone molds. They are amazing!
Add Butter, Salt
We need to make our peanut butter mixture. First we add our butter and our salt to the peanut butter. Then give it a good stir.
Add Powdered Sugar
Now let's add our powdered sugar (confectioner's). Stir that in really well.
Melt Chocolate
Next we will melt our chocolate. I am going to melt mine in the microwave. Microwave it on Hi, in bursts of 30 seconds. Stirring in between bursts, then after the second one, just do it in bursts of 10 seconds. Do don't want to over do it, the chocolate will burn, and that is definitely no fun. :/
Fill in the Molds
Now let's fill in the molds, a little less then half way full. Use a small spoon. Then give it a good shake, to flatten the chocolate out. Next we place it in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes to set up.
Add Peanut Butter Mixture
Next we take a pinch of peanut butter mixture and flatten it out, into a little shape, then place it on top of the bottom chocolate layer. Note - if the mixture is too sticky, add more powdered sugar. And you can also chill the peanut butter mixture to make it a little easier to work with. I find adding more sugar works great.
Fill in Top Layer of Chocolate
Now we take another small spoonful of chocolate and place it on top. Then give the mold a good shake, to flatten it out. Do that for all the molds. Then place them in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes to completely set up.
Take Out the Peanut Butter Cups
Now we just remove the candy from the molds! Simple as that. Another Note - Depending on the chocolate you use, will depend on how the chocolate reacts to room temperature. The chocolate I used here (regular candy bar, and chocolate chips) will melt a little at room temperature over time. So keep them in the fridge. You can also buy the chocolate candy melts, if you use them the candy will not melt as easy at room temperature. Unless you temper the chocolate. Chocolate candy melts don't need to be tempered. They both taste great.
