Start making your chocolate cake according to the directions the box gives you. Mix the flour mixture with the extra ingredients you are going to need – which most of the time include eggs, oil, and/or milk- and bake according to the box directions. After it is baked, let it cool for at least half an hour.

*Tip* Use Betty Crocker's super moist chocolate cake for a delicious chocolate base. Available at most supermarkets.

Frost the Cake

After your cake is chilled, spread the chocolate frosting all over the cake. Make sure you get a good layer of frosting so that the decorations will hold in place.

*Tip* Use Betty Crocker's rich and creamy chocolate frosting for delicious chocolate covering. Available at most supermarkets.

Add Oreo Dirt

Once your cake is frosted, put it aside and let it chill at room temperature. Separate the cookie and filling part of the Oreo and reserve the white part in a bowl. In a large Ziploc bag, add the Oreo cookies, and close the bag tightly. Pass a rolling pin on top of the bag until the Oreos become like a dirt consistency. Once the cookies are crushed, sprinkle them on top of the whole cake covering all the frosting, making it look like dirt.

Decorate Your Graveyard

Add your decorations to your cake. This is a personal choice, depending on what you like and what you want to add. I recommend adding Milano cookies and writing “RIP” on every cookie, making them look like tombs. You can also add gummy worms to add a spooky feeling to the cake. If in your local supermarket you find Halloween candy like candy pumpkins, gummy bats, marshmallows and draw eyes to make them look like ghosts, and/or candy corn.

Enjoy!
